This also coincided with very reduced work hours in my day job and so I seized\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003ethe opportunity to dive into recording the second Curtains album.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003ci\u003e1\u003c\/i\u003e had been released several months earlier and had been explicitly referencing some of\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003ethe music of the early 90s that blew my mind and that has stayed with me over the years.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003cb\u003eRoy Montgomery\u003c\/b\u003e, \u003cb\u003ePeter Jefferies\u003c\/b\u003e, \u003cb\u003eFlying Nun\u003c\/b\u003e stuff, \u003cb\u003eFlying Saucer Attack\u003c\/b\u003e etc. It is\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003ewillfully nostalgic in that regard, and willfully underground-pop adjacent. The\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003esongwriting on \u003ci\u003e1\u003c\/i\u003e is also in that mode and is perhaps a step removed from my\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003econtemporary lived experience. The recording process is a lot more traditional and\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e'structured' than my usual fly-on-the-wall methodology.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003ci\u003e2\u003c\/i\u003e starts out on that same footing, still being aware of honoring my external influences but\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eon this record I found I was taking the actual songwriting a lot more seriously and\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eultimately it became a far more personal record. It's pretty close to being an \u003ci\u003e'Antony\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003ci\u003eMilton'\u003c\/i\u003e record really, albeit less sketch based and more finished and arranged than most\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eof the material I release under my own name. I made a genuine effort to record it as 'well'\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eas I could.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003ci\u003e2\u003c\/i\u003e was recorded around the period of Trump’s re-election with the world seemingly in\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eflames and flits between an impulse for escapism and a sense of responsibility to speak\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eup honestly in a time of peril.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Carbon","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":45289230074064,"sku":null,"price":26.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0554\/4201\/4416\/files\/CR306-Curtains.jpg?v=1792698042","url":"https:\/\/www.grapefruitrecordclub.com\/products\/antony-milton-curtains-2-lp","provider":"Grapefruit Records","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
