Heavenly Bodies makes music that unfolds in real time. Built around improvisation and shared musical frameworks, the band’s performances move between hypnotic grooves, expansive ambient passages, and bursts of raw emotion and intensity.

Mechanics is the 6th full-length release from Philly based expansive and dense rock outfit Heavenly Bodies. Like previous releases, and their live sets, this release has multiple long tracks, slowly…. slooooowlyyyy…. building into heavy thick rock jams, some might call it psych, some might call it spacey, we call it superb!

But with Mechanics, also brings a new dimension to the long-running Heavenly Bodies approach. Layered arrangements expand the band’s sound, while the spontaneity of their improvisational process remains at the core.

The thing about Heavenly Bodies is that they are not afraid to slow the World down. They make every second expand and breathe in an almost painful way.

They make you deal with stasis in a way that these times of non-stop bombardment of information make almost impossible. Can you hang with music and sound that demands your total attention? Can you shut down your mind and really listen?

It’s up to you to shatter this lame apocalyptic bummer scroll-hell time-trap and embrace the beauty of Heavenly Bodies!!! — John Schoen

Born in 2018 of a now 30-year friendship between Shaun Bailey and siblings Ashley and Dustin Burrows, Heavenly Bodies is built on the unpredictable chemistry of three life-long friends drawing on years of a shared musical intuition while continually discovering new territory.

Heavenly Bodies first showed themselves at the 2019 Free Concert Series, climbing up on the stage at Ortlieb’s to an anxious packed house on a sweaty summer night. The band knocked the dust out of everybody’s ears and just about shook the roof off that sucker. White Dwarf, recorded in the rural heat of South Jersey at the Jerkstore the following August, shows that same taste and restraint that left a bunch of us in stupefied delight that night.
