Midnight Minds - S/T Cassette

Please join us in celebrating the debut of Chicago duo and newest addition to the Life Like family, Midnight Minds. With Allison Trumbo on guitar, flute, and violin and Rob Logan handling the more synthetic duties (drum machine, live percussion, and a bevy of hardware synths,) Midnight Minds tumbles through wavy improvisations that lock into clusters of new age visions, randomized meditations, and the occasional drift into darker waters.

These sounds were born of directionless attic jams but slowly began to crystalize as the duo's practice went on. The mesh of electro-acoustic sounds recalls peaceful yoga soundtrackers like Emerald Web and Iasos, but there's also an undercurrent of disquiet that puts Midnight Minds in the same territory as Bitchin' Bajas or Emeralds. This is an unbroken zone-out, to be sure, but it rarely stays in one mode for long. Eight pieces blur into each other and make for one of the most solid first tapes you could hope for. Looking very much forward to when the veil of dread lifts and we get to see this group play live. Until then, here's some smoke-colored magic to enjoy while we wait.
